Durna Safarova is a freelance journalist and filmmaker from Azerbaijan based in Istanbul/Turkey. Before moving to Istanbul she used to work at Baku Bureau of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty for 5 years. She is collaborating with RFERL, BBC Azeri, IWPR, OCCRP regularly and works on her film projects independently.

Safarova has a BA in Journalism from Baku State University and a MA in Cinema and Television from Istanbul Bilgi University.
