Islam Alzeny is a TV producer and media trainer known for his passion about investigative reporting in the Gulf. He has done more than 10 in-depth stories about human rights and corruption which helped thousands of victims in the Middle East. His piece "Life on Hold" led to the adoption of a unified family law in Bahrain, which regulates such matters as marriage, divorce and custody, and covers the rights of men and women. Before this law, ousands of Shiite women subjected to domestic violence could not get divorced. Alzeny has worked for several media organizations in the UK and he is the founder of “A Corruption Free Society”, selected as the best innovative social project to combat corruption in the Middle East and North Africa by Transparency International in 2015. Alzeny also worked at Al Jazeera news channel in 2011 when he was 18 years old, to be one of the youngest journalists in the history of the channel. He also focuses on issues that threaten people's lives and are not being discussed by the Arab media. In 2017, he managed the Middle East's first climate change media program organized by climate tracker with more than 700 participants producing 198 articles and stories about climate change, he trained the participants on writing about climate and selected the best three to attend the global climate negotiations which was held In Bonn, Germany last May.Alzeny supports young climate activists with exceptional communications skills in publicly tracking their countries’ response to the climate change challenge – with a particular focus on the roles of their national governments in the context of UNFCCC negotiations.He also also worked as an economic correspondent for Reuters in 2015 and he used to lecture at events in Malaysia, Germany Egypt, Bahrain, Morocco, Tunisia, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, France, Turkey, Hungary and Norway.Alzeny is currently working as a freelance Social Media and Outreach Advisor for BBC Media Action, in addition to carrying out investigations independently.
