Sanne Terlingen

OneWorld & Argos (VPRO)
Investigative Journalist
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Sanne Terlingen is an investigative journalist reporting on migration, people smuggling, human trafficking, the war on terror and the long arm of the Eritrean regime in Europe. She currently works for OneWorld (magazine and online) and Argos (the main investigative programme on the Dutch public radio). She won several awards, for example for her investigation into the mysterious death of an Eritrean asylumseeker Kahsay Mekonen. He was found in Germany, hanging at a tree. While the German police concluded: suicide, Sanne Terlingen and Huub Jaspers discovered that he had a conflict with a people smuggler, and that there were links to organ trafficking. The people smuggler is declared wanted by the Italian police. Terlingen also reported on undocumented migrant girls einding up in the nightclubs in Djibouti. Their main customors: French and American military contractors. The U.S. kept this information out of official reports.
