Emin Huseynov is chairman of Azerbaijan's leading press freedom organisation, the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS), and the founder of award-winning online video channel Objektiv TV.

In six months he was hiding at the Swiss embassy to avoid arrest after a crackdown by the authorities in his homeland against journalists and human rights activists.

In June 2015 he was smuggled out of the country in a spectacular operation, fleeing  Azerbaijan on the plane of Switzerland’s foreign minister, Didier Burkhalter, who attended the Euro Games ceremony in Baku.
