Fernando Rodrigues, 52, is a Brazilian investigative journalist. Rodrigues is based in Brasília (Brazil’s capital). He has been with the news portal UOL since the year 2000. UOL (www.uol.com.br) is a leading Internet portal in Brazil with 50 million unique visitors traffic (July/2015).


 


As a print media journalist, Rodrigues worked 27 years for "Folha de S.Paulo” as Economics Editor in São Paulo and foreign correspondent in New York, Tokyo and Washington, D.C. 


 


Rodrigues has won several journalism awards in Brazil and abroad, including the web journalism prize from “Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano” headed by Gabriel García Márquez. His book “Políticos do Brasil” was awarded the best journalistic book in Brazil in 2006. Rodrigues is a founder of Abraji (the Brazilian Association for Investigative Journalism - www.abraji.org.br) and currently serves as a Board Member for Abraji. One of his duties at Abraji is to coordinate the Brazilian campaign for the full implementation of the Brazilian Freedom of Information Act passed by Congress in 2011.


Rodrigues was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard in 2007/08.
